How internet travels across continents and beyond?

Reading is an addiction and its fuel is more articles, books and whatever the mind can get only to read and get informed. My brain was demanding something knowledge able content so i turned to the newspaper, lying on table .

It was long since i read something current affair based content. I was delighted to find an article on "Data" that we consume daily on our mobiles, laptops and tablets ,leaving aside other essential services. Scientists and engineers have done outstanding job by creating a network so to make communication accessible beyond the continents but wait ,

How does it reach to us?

Internet travels across continents and beyond to reach you.

  •  DATA IS WITHIN THE OCEAN

Let's find it out here

The Internet consists of little bits of code that move round the world, travelling along wires as thin as a strand of hair strung across the bed. the info zips from big apple to Sydney, from urban center to London, within the time it takes you to read this word.

Nearly 750,000 miles of cable connection across the continents and beyond support our insatiable demands for communication, games and entertainment.

Companies have typically pooled their resources to collaborate on undersea cable projects, sort of a freeway for all to share.

But now Google goes great its own way, in a very first-of-its-kind project connecting the US to Chile, home to the company's largest data center in geographical area.

"We all think that data is within the cloud ,but it's not"

said jaane Stowell, who oversees the development of google undersea cable projects. "It is within the ocean".

The cables begin as a cluster of strands of little threads of glass fibers. Lasers propel data down the threads at nearly the speed of sunshine ,using fiber-optic technology. After reaching land and connecting with a replacement existing network, the info needed to read an email or open an online page makes its way onto a human device.

While most folks now largely experience the web through wifi and phone data plans, those system eventually join up with physical cables that swiftly Carry the data across continents or across oceans.

A year of designing goes into charting a cable route that avoid signs of underwater hazards, but the cables still must withstand heavy currents, rock slides, earthquakes, and interferences from fishing trawlers. Each cable is predicted to last up to 25 years.

The primary trans-Atlantic cable was completed in 1858 to attach the U.S. and Britain. Queen Victoria commemorated the occasion with a message to President Buchanan that took 16 hours to transmit.(Look now, we even complain 😢speed of 4G at 1 mb/sec)

While new wireless and satellite technologies are invented within the decade same since, cables remain the fastest, most effective, and least expensive thanks to send information across the ocean. And it's still off from cheap. Google wouldn't disclose the price of its project to Chile, but experts say subsea projects cost up to $350 million, counting on the length of the cable.

After the geographical area projects, Google planned to make a replacement cable running from Virginia to France, to be done by 2020. the corporate has 13 data centers open round the world, with eight more under construction -all needed to power the trillions of google searches made every year and therefore the 400 hours of video uploaded to youtube each minute.(Such a large number ,isn't it? 😐)

It was all, what i say getting informed about our surroundings and becoming more aware. The language above is slightly scientific and it must be because the topic was scientific too .Lol 😂. But nevertheless, you can always ask your queries in the comment box or directly message me on email, and i would love to help you, all way possible.

Keep with me and enjoy the fun the reading.
